Pivot point calculator: floor pivots with R1 to R3 and S1 to S3

Enter yesterday's high, low and close to get the classic pivot point and the three resistance and support levels above and below it.

How to use it

  1. Enter the prior session high, low and close.
  2. Read the pivot point (PP).
  3. Read R1, R2, R3 above and S1, S2, S3 below.
PP = (H + L + C) ÷ 3 · R1 = 2PP − L · S1 = 2PP − H · R2/S2 = PP ± (H − L)
Example. High 5,520, low 5,470, close 5,505: PP 5,498.33, R1 5,526.67, S1 5,476.67.

About this calculator

Floor-trader pivots are a fixed formula applied to the prior session, so they are widely watched reference levels on ES, NQ, SPY and QQQ. They are a grid, not a prediction: price can ignore any of them. Compare them with the overnight high and low and the prior close that LiquidityLevels briefings publish each session.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate pivot points?
The pivot is the average of the prior high, low and close. R1 is twice the pivot minus the low; S1 is twice the pivot minus the high; R2 and S2 add and subtract the prior range.
Do pivot points work for futures?
The formula applies to any instrument with a high, low and close. Which session defines the prior values (RTH or full Globex) is your choice.
Are pivots support and resistance?
They are reference levels many traders watch. Price can pass through them without reacting.
