Value Area Low (VAL)

VAL is the lower boundary of a selected profile value area, used to describe the lower edge of accepted activity.

Value-area low, abbreviated VAL, is the lower edge of a profile value area. It is calculated from the chosen profile distribution, often using a roughly 70% activity rule.

Price below VAL may be accepted as a lower distribution or rejected back into value. The distinction comes from what happens after the test.

A prior-day VAL can frame the cash session while an overnight VAL describes a smaller earlier auction.
